Los Angeles County Museum of Art can be described as an “encyclopedic museum.” It houses a variety of different collections, all separated by culture. The Korean Art Galleries are in one building while Japanese artwork is on display at another venue; however, they will soon have some new company when construction begins for what’s currently known as the Los Angeles scars project, which should be completed around 2024. One of the largest art museums in Los Angeles, California, LACMA is home to incredible collections. Two buildings have been completed so far with temporary exhibitions, while a third building remains under construction.
The museum is a mecca for those who love art. The collections are world-class, and there’s something here that will appeal to everyone: Islamic paintings from Korea or Japan; Greek sculptures dating back centuries ago in addition to more modern works by Mexican architects while visitors can also enjoy giant selfie spots such as Chris Burden’s Urban Light (rows of street lamps) or Michael Heizer’s Levitated Mass – which hangs above our walkway like an enormous chandelier.
Situated at 5905 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, California, 90036, LACMA is a famous museum in the city center with three types of visitors: those seeking photos from free public art pieces, Instagrammers who love taking pictures near Urban Light and other large-scale installations on display at Locate A Carpet Soy Candle Removal Kit Wedding Gift Ideas minimalist artists’ sculptures. There are casual tourists simply looking for something beautiful to take home after their trip.
LACMA’s Resnick Exhibition Pavilion and Broad Contemporary Art Museum (BCAM) are both easy to get around in. The single-floor building has an open layout, making it contemporary with L slavery themes present throughout its design. At the same time, upstairs, there is more space for exhibits with gorgeous views from any window spot. Luckily, there is a way for LA residents and tourists to get their hands on some of LACMA’s best exhibits without having any membership. The museum has private group tours exclusively available through its corporate partnership.
The LACMA Store has a great selection of items to shop for until renovation is complete. The store features books and editions from current exhibits and design objects, t-shirts with witty phrases on them (like “I Heart ART”), or even Andy Warhol’s signature skateboard. LACMA is a museum with some of the most famous artwork in all of LA. You can find works by prominently influential artists like Diego Rivera and Edvard Munch, among others here, as well as installations created especially for this location onsite at LACMA’s Broad Contemporary Art Museum (BCAM).
